Better Sustenance

I looked at all the friends and did not find a better friend than safeguarding the tongue. I thought about all the dresses but did not find a better dress than piety. I thought about all sorts of wealth but did not find a better wealth than contentment in a little. I thought of all sorts of good deeds but did not find a better deed than offering good advice. I looked at all types of sustenance but did not find a better sustenance than patience.

​The Servant Exists between the Hands of Allah​

The servant exists between hands of Allah at two times: while standing during performing prayer and standing on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever fulfills the rights of the first standing, will in fact be facilitating the second one, and whoever considers this easy and does not pay due attention to it, he will be making the other one difficult for himself.

It was said to Sahl, “What is the hardest thing upon the ego (nafs)?”  He replied: “Sincerity, because​ ​

​The Positive Fear​

The positive and recommended fear is that which prevents the individual from the forbidden.  Fear beyond that may lead the person to despondency, which is itself forbidden.—
