Intentions

Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for."Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab:- Bukhari

Munafiq

The example of the believer, the unbeliever and the hypocrite is that of three people who arrived at a valley. One of them descended and passed through to the other side. One of them descended until he reached half way, when the third man on the edge of the valley called to him, “Woe to you, where are you going? You will die. Come back.” The man who made it to the other side called to him, “Come and be saved.” So [the man in the middle of the valley] kept looking back and forth at the two [on each side of the valley], when a flood came into the valley and drowned him. The man who passed through to the other side is the believer; the one who drowned is the munâfiq (hypocrite) – ‘Abdullâh b. Mas’ûd – Allâh be pleased with him

Khushu'

Hudhayfah said:
“The first thing you will lose of your religion will be Khushû and the last thing you will lose of your religion will be the prayer, and it is well possible that there is no good in a person who prays, and soon will come a time when you shall enter a large Masjid and not see a single person with Khushû‘"- The Humility in Prayer, Ibn Rajab al-Hanbalî

Do not Despair

Let the days do as they please
And be optimistic when destiny decrees
Do not despair due to the events of nights past For the events of this world were not meant to last. - Imam al-Shafi'i

People

If all the people are pleased with you
but Allah is not,
what have you gained?
If Allah is pleased with you
but none of the people are,
what have you lost?

Acquire knowledge

Acquire knowledge, it enables its seeker to distinguish right from wrong and it lights up his way to heaven. It is his friend in the desert, his company in solitude and his companion when friendless. It guides him to happiness and sustains him in misery. It is an ornament amongst friends and an armour against enemies

Substitute

For everything you leave, there is a substitute, But if you depart from Allah, there is no substitute for Him.

Singing and its Effects,

"For no one regularly sings or listens to song except that his heart falls into nifâq without him realizing. If such a person understood the reality of nifâq and its end he would see it in his own heart. Never do the love of song and the love of Qur`ân come together in a person’s heart except that one expels the other. I and others have witnessed how heavy the Qur`ân feels to singers and song-listeners; how they coil when it is recited and how they get angry with a reciter when he recites too long for them (in prayer etc); and how their hearts do not benefit from what he recites: they are not moved to do anything by it. But when the Qur`ân of Shaytân comes, lâ ilâha illallâh! How they lower their voices and settle down! How their hearts feel at peace and how the crying and emotions start, how moved they are inwardly and outwardly and spend on clothing and perfume and staying up hoping for a long night ahead. If this is not nifâq then it is certainly the way to it and its foundation". - Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawzîyah – Madârij Al-Sâlikîn

Hypocrisy

The likeness [of the munâfiq] is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allâh took away their light and left them in darkness. So they could not see. They are deaf, dumb and blind, so they return not [to the Right Path]. (Quran 2:17)
Qatâdah – Allâh’s mercy be upon him – said:
This is the likeness Allâh has given of the Hypocrite (munâfiq); he says lâ ilâha illallâh and with it marries into the Muslims, inherits from the Muslims, fights alongside the Muslims, and protects his blood and wealth. But when death comes, [the testimony of faith] has no basis in his heart, and no reality in his actions, so the munâfiq is stripped of it at death and left in darkness and blindness wondering therein, just as he was blind about the right of Allâh and obedience to Him in his worldly life and deaf to the truth.-Al-Tabarî, Al-Tafsîr.

Reconcile

The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) said: The gates of Paradise are opened on Mondays & on Thursdays, and every servant [of Allah] who associates nothing with Allah will be forgiven, except for the man who has a grudge against his brother. [About them] it will be said: Delay these two until they are reconciled; delay these two until they are reconciled; delay these two until they are reconciled. naratted Abu Hurairah (r.a.) - Ahmad, Muslim,

Treasure House

‎قال سفيان بن عيينة: إِنما آيات القرآن خزائن، فإذا دخلتَ خزانةً فاجتهد أن لا تخرج منها حتى تعرف ما فيها
Sufyan b. Uyaynah said: Indeed the verses of Quran are treasure-houses. So when you enter a treasure-house, try that you do not leave it until you know what is inside it.

Solitude

'Uqbah bin `Amir (radiAllahu 'anhu) said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), "How can salvation be achieved?'' He replied, "Control your tongue, keep to your house, and weep over your sins.''"
